Abstract:
The dynamic imbalance and physical dimensions were measured on a number of 5 in.38 MARK 66 MOD 0 projectiles. These projectiles were ballistic tested. Statistical techniques were used to correlate ballistic performance with measured projectile characteristics. A dynamic imbalance of 10 inch-ounces or less does not have a significant effect upon the ballistic performance of the subject projectile. Three of the projectile body dimensions had effect upon ballistic performance of the projectiles for the range of data analyzed.
