The light-adapted visual system is rich of channels and units of different types and sizes. Their spatial arrangement in central vision, may be assumed to satisfy some conditions which, on the other hand, are not fulfilled in peripheral vision. In the dark-adapted retina the luminance-time relationship at absolute threshold is found to depend on the spectral composition of the stimulus and on its shape. In turn, some orientation dependence are found for Troxlers effect and for relative depth sensation. Some electrophysiological data electroretinographic response, cortical evoked response are produced and discussed. Modified author abstract
