The report describes the effect of temperature on the decarbamylation of dimethylcarbamylated acetylcholinesterase, and on the activation of this reaction by ligands. Discontinuities in the temperature dependence of the decarbamylation reaction have been observed, and the effect of ligands on these discontinuities is reported. The existence of different temperature and ligand dependent states of the enzyme has been suggested to account for the results. An effect of temperature on the relative concentrations of multiple forms of erythrocyte and serum cholinesterase has also been suggested.
