This report is the first of a series of reports presenting data collected during May of 1972 in a joint effort by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric AgencyAtlantic Oceanographical and Meteorological Laboratory NOAAAOML, Nova University, the State University System Institute of OceanographyFlorida SUSIO, University of Miami, Instituto de GeofisicaUniversidad National Autonoma de Mexico, and Texas AM University. This joint field effort has been declared a part of the Cooperative Investigations of the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions CICAR Program. The basic objective was to simultaneously monitor the Loop Current and the currents in the Yucatan and Florida Straits. In particular, this report presents the data collected during Cruise 72-A-9 of Texas AM Universitys RV ALAMINOS. Author
