The thesis attempts to determine the major impacts of large-scale computer operations on the functions and principles of management. It supports a view that there is a universality to management and that management theory is equally applicable to the civilian and military environment. Data was gathered using literature search and the determination and employment of significant computer factors impacting on Management Theory. The potential for impact of computers on the broad spectrum of management functions and principles is established by the research. The computer in the environment of the 1970s cannot be regarded as a limiting factor in organizations coping with complex management problems. Modified author abstract
