The establishment of a positive immunotropic action of the sympathetic nervous system is an attempt to solve the problem as how to set up its regulatory effect on the immunological reaction. Data obtained indicates that the mediators of a sympathetic system, adrenalin and noradrenalin, first raise the functional condition of the immunocompetent cells by intensifying the metabolic processes in them and by maintaining their energy potential at a high level. This is an important condition for taking up and absorbing the antigen, and stimulating the specific function of the cells - the producers of the antibodies.
