Abstract:
Electromagnetic subsurface profiling ESP is described. The technique is analogous to seismic reflection profiling but uses nanosecond electromagnetic energy bursts rather than seismic waves. It is designed to be used in permafrost areas for the delineation of masses of underground ice. Preliminary experiments to determine the feasibility of the method are presented.
