Abstract:
Values of the Debye-Waller factor f in cobalt containing 7 by weight Fe, are calculated on the basis of nuclear gamma-resonance spectra for temperatures between 20 and 250C. A considerable decrease of f is observed near the temperature of the beginning of the phase transition of the first kind Ms 140 plus or minus 5 degrees C. It is suggested that this effect may be due to a decrease of the lattice force constants near Ms.
