Abstract:

Preliminary results are given from experiments in creating a fog in an aerosol chamber during an adiabatic expansion of the air. Change in transparency and microstructure of the fog within the chamber as it is dissipated has shown the fog is not uniform at various heights in the chamber. Studies of recurrence of fogs have shown that in two consecutive experiments carried out at identical initial conditions, the time required for dissipation of the fog is almost identical. The longest period of existence of a fog in the chamber is about 1.5 hours.
