Abstract:
Various measures of observer performance at the task of finding and recognizing targets are discussed along with consideration of the type of behavior required to do well on each measure. It is shown that to do well by different criteria requires different observer behavior. Experimental data is given which compares observers on different performance measures to illustrate the problem of selecting the most proficient observers. Conclusions are drawn about observer selection and its impact upon reconnaissancestrike systems effectiveness. Author
