The eyes of rhesus monkeys were exposed to the radiation from a frequency-doubled neodymium laser. Retinal damage was assessed with a fundus camera at one hour and 24 hours after exposure. The threshold for a 50 probability of damage ED50 was determined from the data. The threshold for a single 15-nsec pulse using the one-hour lesion appearance criterion was determined to be 3.02 microjoules per pulse at the cornea. Author
