Abstract:

In the paper a frequency-domain adaptive array structure is derived that processes data in selected regions of frequency-wavenumber space to provide a minimum mean squared error estimate of a signal component of the observed acoustic field. New stochastic convergence results are presented, indicating that the covariance ergodicity conditions invoked by Parzen to ensure strong consistency of covariance estimates also ensure convergence of the stochastic approximation algorithm for the beamformer gains. These convergence results appear to be the most readily applicable results yet obtained for algorithms that must operate on correlated data. Modified author abstract
