Theoretical and experimental studies of the effect of a 30 degree base cant on the pitching moment of a slim conical body have been performed. These analyses have shown that a positive moment due to the base cant is produced for an angle of attack less than the cone half angle. Trim is obtained at angles of attack close to the angle of attack that corresponds to the peak lift-to-drag ratio. The effect on lift and drag is to reduce these quantities approximately by the amount the windward surface area is reduced.
