The ACODAC exercise known as the BLAKE TEST was an outgrowth of the LRAPP environmental acoustics operation in the Caribbean during the fall of 1972. This exercise raised some questions regarding the self noise of ACODAC systems and the overall performance of the hydrophone array which had broken free and from which no usable data were recovered. The BLAKE TEST also served as a training precursor for the extensive series of ACODAC deployments scheduled for the Pacific in 1973 from RV NORTH SEAL.
