Five possible methods for designing direct-fire weapon simulation and hit detection equipment are studied. The most promising method is based on the use of infrared radiation. Two techniques using infrared are examined in detail. The resulting calculations provide the basis for constructing an experimental test system for field measurements and evaluation. Author
