Abstract:

Following former observations on the surveillance of poliomyelitis antibody presence made 196667, 1909 sera from 352 military personnel, 325 pregnant women, and 117 mothers and their neonates were examined for the presence of neutralizing antibodies. The number of adults with a complete set of antibodies has shown a constant increased character up to 80-90 in 1969. In the same way, there has been a significant increase in the number of persons with demonstrable type II poliovirus antibodies. A significant difference in the distribution of antibodies between primiparae and multiparae could not be established. The rates of increase in male and female persons of the same age, having a complete set of antibodies amounted to 21 and 34 respectively. Author
