The scan mode and the coherent MTI Moving Target Indicator mode will be considered for the case when the received target signal is corrupted by white Gaussian noise only. The MTI loss the increase in signal-to- oise ratio required for the same detection performance when switching from the scan mode to the MTI mode is also determined and discussed. Methods for improving the MTI performance are given and evaluated.
