The report develops a technique for finding the optimum maintenance float to support a fleet of units in the field. The technique is based on the steady state probabilities derived from a closed loop queuing model. A full force confidence level is found, for each float size, which expresses the percent of the time that the fleet will be at its full force size in the field. Inputs required for using the method are the function of the repair rate versus the service facility population, and the function of the per unit failure rate versus the number of units in the field.
