A simple experiment, using explosive sound sources, has been performed at sea to verify the conservation of the average total energy received at an omnidirectional hydrophone after reflection by the rough sea surface. Although the data sample is small, some conclusions can be reached about the extent of conservation versus surface roughness and grazing angle at the surface. Author
