Premixed laminar combustion flames have been used in this program as a medium in which to study the ion chemistry of a number of metals of potential importance as rocket propellant additives or fuel constituents. The study included examination of i the thermochemistry of molybdenum, vanadium and chromium-containing negative ions ii the kinetics of electron attachment to HBO2 and HCl and iii the charged species chemistry of aluminum compounds at high temperatures.
