Abstract:
An attempt is made to identify primary criteria with which to evaluate the performance of chaplains serving on active duty in the United States Navy. A review of performance evaluation is presented in which the earliest developments are discussed and compared with the changes which have been made in the Fitness Report over the years. A research study was conducted using the critical incident techniques to gather data on effective and ineffective task behavior of chaplains. From an analysis and classification of the data a listing of primary criteria was developed from which rating scales for the evaluation of chaplains may be developed. Author
