The Coast Guard Oceanographic Unit CGOU used taut-line instrumented arrays to investigate the current regime near the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. The instrumented arrays used were patterned after a design developed and used by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. G. B. Shicks Circular Arc Approximation was used to compute the tension in the mooring line. The arrays were set and recovered by Coast Guard personnel under the supervision of CGOU field parties. Author
