Measurements of the plastic flow stress and 30 MHz ultrasonic attenuation in normal and superconducting 99.9999 pure In and Pb are presented. For both In and Pb, with a strain rate of 0.00001sec, the attenuation change delta alphasn takes about 3 s while the related flow stress change delta sigmasn takes about 30 s. In indium delta alphasn and delta sigmasn are completed in about 40 s in Pb the corresponding times are about 3 s or less. Experimental evidence is presented which shows unequivocally that the dislocation arrangements in the normal and superconducting states are 9different.
