Abstract:

The study examines the effect of aircrew and equipment factors on bomb scores achieved by electronically simulated bomb releases in B-52 aircraft. A total of 260 low level, synchronous releases performed by one SAC squadron over a six-month period were analyzed. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the effect of 16 crew factors and two equipment factors on bomb scores. At a .05 level of significance, no single crew factor was found to consistently affect bomb scores. It was also found that certain of the aircraft have a greater effect on bomb scores than any of the crew factors which were studied. Author
