Abstract:

Racial conflict has persisted throughout American history, marked by many forms of violent confrontation. Racial emotionalism incorporating both fear and mistrust by both black and whites is still pervasive. There is a revived awareness of other racial and ethnic identities, including Indians, Mexican-Americans, Puerto Ricans, and others. The report discusses a number of factors in this area.
