Efficient and reliable joints and fastening systems for advanced fiber reinforced composites were studied. Optimum processing conditions were established for manufacturing a graphite composite wing for the BQM-34E serial target and also to determine the effect of surface fiber orientation on joint strength. The strength of Modulite 5206-11 graphiteepoxy composite joint to metal adherend depended primarily on the characteristics of the adhesive. A FLEXIBLE ADHESIVE LOADS THE COMPOSITE UNIFORMLY AND THE STRENGTH OF THE JOINT WILL DEPEND ON INTERLAMINA SHEAR PROPERTIES OF THE COMPOSITE. Author, modified-PL
