The absorption and excitation spectra of HoYLF laser material have been determined. Twenty-nine xenon lamps have been constructed and tested. The effect of varying the parameters of noble gas arc lamps on the fluorescent light output of HoYLF laser material is being studied. Preliminary in-laser lamp tests have been made at input energies between 9 joules and 23 joules. Modified author abstract
