A spectrometer for hard X-radiation was installed aboard the Kosmos-428 artificial Earth satellite 1. The detector consisted of a scintillation counter with a CsIT1 crystal, 30 mm deep and 80.0 mm in diameter. The preliminary data from thirty revolutions of the satellite are reported here. A strong variable source of hard X-rays was found on 24-25 June 1972 in the region of the constellation Coma Berenices.
