Experimental techniques are employed in a comparative evaluation of effectiveness of mandisplay system concepts. Trends in mandisplay effectiveness attributable to different levels of data processing and information integration are investigated. Navy tactical displays associated with surface ship antisubmarine attack control are used as the vehicle for investigation. Six tactically important parameters, relating to offensive, defensive and overall performance, are used to measure the effectiveness of the mandisplay systems. Analyses of subjective factor associated with mandisplay interactions, based on observation and debriefing of officer subjects, are presented. Modified author abstract
