Abstract:

The problem of determining the suitability of a system for some intended purpose by testing it against a number of prescribed requirements r1, r2, ..., rn where each requirement, ri, has an a priori probability of passage is considered. An application of Boolean algebra to assist the computation of conditional probabilities is presented an information theory analogy is noted and an implication for risk analysis is suggested. Author
