The material was evaluated in sheet and plate thickness of 116 in., 18 in., 14 in. and 12 in. The welding process was limited to the Gas Tungsten Arc method done outside an inclosure with an auxiliary trailing shield. No problems were encountered in producing sound welds. Heat treat practices which produced 100 tensile efficiency in weld joints were developed, and weld toughness determined by Charpy impact testing was equivalent to current state-of-the-art for the high strength levels examined.
