The goal of this research program has been to gain increased knowledge of the physical processes in the solar atmosphere. In addition to the rocket experiments, several projects in the laboratory that relate to the general problem of detection and interpretation of x-rays are summarized. These include measurements of 1 the spectrometric properties of crystals, 2 techniques to produce very finely collimated beams of x-rays, 3 proportional counter detector parameters at sub-atmospheric pressures, 4 interaction coefficients of x-rays with matter, and 5 techniques for x-ray photography.
