Pagination or Media Count:
A model of the hard-rock tunneling process is developed including a three-dimensional stratified geology, a modular representation of many excavation system possibilities, and a cost-accounting system to facilitate cost-benefit analysis of tunneling system performance. The mathematical representations of rock fragmentation, materials handling, ground support, and environmental control are given, supported by empirical data and an analysis of the physics involved.
