The book contains the invited papers presented at the first international symposium devoted specifically to the field of safety and reliability of structures subject to stochastic loads, such as aircraft, bridges, nuclear reactors and other structures subject to gust, wind and earthquake forces. Emphasis is placed on the integration of probabilistic structure and testing of observational aspects, as well as on the dominant role of order statistics in the conceptual formulation of safety and reliability.
