Specific deficiencies in requirements are discussed, and appropriate changes to the specification are proposed. Methods for evaluating the quality of the surface is proposed in order to establish low porosity, corrosion resistant and electrically stable contact surfaces. By establishing suitable limits of surface contour, porosity and permitting application of lubricants to the surface, the quantity and thereby the cost of gold can be reduced and the durability and corrosion resistance of the contacts can be improved.
