The objective of this project was to determine the degree to which cushioning materials used in package design continue to satisfy performance requirements after long term storage periods including exposure to climatic conditions. Of the three cushioning materials examined, cellulosic wadding, bound fiber, and polyurethane ether, only polyurethane ether demonstrated consistent cushioning per-formance independent of climatic conditions and length of storage.
