Three fullscale 16-inch diameter - 0.077-inch wall maraging steel missile cases were fabricated using a press-brake roll-and-weld technique. The two unique features of the technique are 1 The welding together of flat sheet segments to form one large sheet 2 The rolling of the sheet into a central cylindrical missile case using a multiple press brake bending sequence followed by seam welding. End closures were then girth welded onto the central case. A successful High-pressure proof test demonstrated the feasibility of the fabrication technique. Author
