A theoretical model of a Sparton Model 601M horizontal velocity gage is developed. The mechanical and electrical systems of the velocity gage are treated as separate entities and separate models of each system are developed. Lagranges equations are used to develop the mechanical equation of motion. Amperes circuital law is used to develop the inductance equations for the electrical model. The electrical system equations are developed by applying Kirchhoffs voltage law to an equivalent circuit for the bridge network. Then by defining state variables, the overall system equations are written. A FORTRAN program was developed to solve the overall system equations using a fourth order Runge-Kutta algorithm.
