Abstract:

Software systems fail when delivered, during acceptance testing, and throughout the life of the systems. The reasons for their failure are explored and means to prevent or overcome these problems are suggested. The latter include development and use of good documentation standards use of improved software design techniques described as defensive programming and of good high level languages design of adequate tests concurrent with the software design process and adequate preparation for hardwaresoftware integration.
