The report summarizes the results of an acoustics, seismics, and magnetics research program with the fundamental purpose of examining the effects of seasonal changes on vehicle signatures. Primary emphasis is given to the examination of seismic data, since the seasonal effects are more outstanding in these data and not as well understood for that area of physics. The results of the research indicate that road roughness has the most significant effect on the signature of trucks, while the amount of acoustic coupling to the ground has the most significant effect on the signature for tanks. The results also indicate that the presence of a heavy snow layer acted an an acoustic barrier between the sound front and the earths surface, thus greatly reducing the ground-coupled sound water winter conditions.
