The study, of the anti-Huk campaign, was undertaken to gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of those elements which contribute in a positive manner toward success in a counter-insurgency operation. Through historical research the counter efforts of the Philippine government, during the years 1946 through 1955, were reviewed and analyzed to determine the policy objectives which ultimately led to success. By 1950, the Communist Huk had achieved a capability that seriously imperiled the continued viability of the Philippine government. At this point in history, the government rose to the threat and within a year had turned the tide. Success is credited to the assumption of full control by Magsaysay in the formulation and implementation of governmental efforts. Modified author abstract
