Abstract:
More than 10 million Americans receive their medical care services through the Department of Defense. The Army Medical Department AMEDD directs the largest of the DOD health care systems, of which two are at the officer level and one culminates in warrant officer status. The paper is concerned chiefly with programs at the enlisted personnel level. A discussion of major problems is followed by some recommendations as applied to an all-volunteer Army.
