A possibility that the flow field at the juncture of the sonic line and a shock in flows with high subsonic Mach numbers can be described by a similarity solution is examined in detail. For physical reasons singularities propagating in the supersonic region towards the point of junction are excluded. A heuristic argument is made showing why similarity solutions are unlikely.
