Abstract:
Single crystals of rutile TiO2, 15 mm in diameter and 3 mm thick have been grown homoepitaxially in closed quartz ampoules via the overall chemical transport reaction TiO2s TeCl4g TiCl4g TeO2g. The description of the experimental procedure includes details of a novel radiative heating and cooling arrangement which allows for growth of a crystal at a temperature lower than that of the ampoule containing it. The morphology of the grown crystals was found to depend on supersaturation. Modified author abstract
