Abstract:

The readiness or lack of readiness of Reserve Component units has been a subject of much discussion. An essential part of the problem has been the lack of accurate readiness information. The essay examines current US Army methods of determining operational readiness. Material was collected by a review of appropriate reference books, after action reports, previous studies of the problem, directives, Army Training Tests, and by interview.
