Abstract:
The basic problem addressed is the necessity for mutual security agreements in Asia in the 70s. Analysis of the conditions and environment in Asia resulted in the conclusion that not only are mutual security agreements a requirement for a peaceful Asia in the 70s, but the types of agreements required were outlined. Data was gathered using extensive literary search which included analysis of mutual security treaties themselves. Finally, a role was formulated for the United States in Asia in the 70s whereby the United States becomes an indirect supporting force for Asian regional organizations, a role which offers a high degree of possible success for a peaceful Asia in the 70s.
