An investigation of strained small ring systems as possible group constituents in synthetic high energy fuels was continued. The purification of research samples of 1,2-epoxybutane, trans-2,3-epoxybutane, and cyclopentylamine is described. Thermodynamic properties for 1,2-epoxybutane in the liquid state are reported. Conversion to the gaseous state awaits vapor pressure measurements which are in progress. Vapor pressure and enthalpy-of-vaporization measurements were completed for trans-2,3-epoxybutane. Combustion and low-temperature thermal measurements are in progress however, these data indicate that the sample purity may not be adequate for some of the properties. Author
