Abstract:
The Government spends approximately 2 billion dollars annually for acquisition of 6 million pieces of engineering data. These data are intended for use in reprocurement, manufacture, and repair of items. Results of the research effort indicate these data have been unusable for their intended purposes, and if the data were suitable for their intended uses in all cases, an estimated 50 million dollars per year would be available for other uses. Several weaknesses in current Air Force procedures that have contributed to this situation are documented, and remedial actions are proposed, in this thesis. Author
