Abstract:
The temperature and shear strain rate dependences of the flow stresses measured for single crystals or polycrystals of alpha-iron, molybdenum, and niobium are compared on the basis of the thermal activation-strain rate analysis TASRA. Of particular concern is the TASRA parameter, the activation volume, which is shown to follow a reciprocal dependence on the thermal component of shear stress, with fair accuracy.
