Abstract:

The use of relatively simple measurements to quantify electroencephalographic EEG changes during feedback regulation of the EEG is widespread. These measures often fail to distinguish effects attributable to changes in the amplitude, abundance, or frequency characteristics of the EEG. Results of the present study showed that there were significant changes in amplitude dependent alpha indices in the absence of any change in the abundance of alpha activity as defined by zero-cross period analysis. The frequency of bursts of alpha activity used to trigger feedback was not significantly altered by alpha training. Author
